No one wants peeling skin. It brings discomfort and makes for an awkward appearance. If you have peeling skin, it is likely due to skin damage, such as a sunburn, infection or severe dryness. While there are various remedies you can employ to treat peeling skin, it's better to simply avoid it altogether. By following a dedicated care regime, you can effectively avoid peeling skin and maintain a healthy, glowing complexion.

Things You'll Need:

  • Cleanser Sunscreen Hydrating mask Moisturizer Aloe vera gel
  1. Step 1

Wash your skin twice daily, using a gentle cleanser. This will regularly remove debris and bacteria which may irritate your skin, leading to dryness and peeling. Choose a gentle cleanser that is free of added fragrances and dye.

  2. Step 2

Wear sunscreen daily. Peeling skin is often due to sunburns. Cover any exposed skin with a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Wear it daily, regardless of the weather outside, and reapply if you'll be outside for extended periods of time.

  3. Step 3

Use a hydrating mask on your skin weekly. Peeling skin is often the result of dryness. Avoid this by using a mask that deeply hydrates your skin. Masks that contain natural ingredients such as avocado or olive oil work well to moisturize dry skin.

  4. Step 4

Moisturize your skin. Apply moisturizer in the morning and evening as part of your regular skincare regime. Choose a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin type. Since you are seeking to avoid peeling skin, a moisturizer designed for dry skin is likely best. You can also opt for a more intense cream at night for extra hydration.

  5. Step 5

Apply aloe vera gel to your skin daily. While this natural remedy is often used to treat peeling skin, it also works to prevent it. Simply spread a thin layer over your skin daily to keep it hydrated and nourished. Choose all-natural aloe vera gel to avoid skin-irritating dyes and fragrances.

  6. Step 6

Drink lots of water daily. Regardless of the amount of moisturizer you use, your skin won't be hydrated unless you drink sufficient water. Drink at least 64 oz. of water daily.

  7. Step 7

Keep your diet healthy. Diet plays an important role in skin health. Avoid peeling skin by ensuring that you have sufficient amounts of vitamins A, B and C in your diet, all of which are key to healthy skin. Get adequate amounts of iron and protein every day as well to keep dry, peeling skin at bay.
