How to Grow Honeysuckles
Honeysuckle is a fast-growing vine that grows easily for most gardeners. There are several different kinds of honeysuckle. Many gardeners successfully grow honeysuckle on trellises and fences. Work the planting area with a garden spade to aerate the soil. Add approximately 3 inches of compost to the soil. Completely incorporate the compost into the original soil.

Dig holes that are deep and wide enough for the honeysuckle's roots.

Place the honeysuckle plants into the holes so that they are at the same depth of their original containers. Immediately trim the vines and branches back to approximately 12 inches of growth above the ground.

Water the plants regularly. Keep the soil slightly moist during the first season.

Lay a 2-inch layer of mulch around the base of the plants to keep the roots sheltered and cool.

Fertilize the honeysuckle vines at the beginning of each growing season. Use a general-purpose fertilizer and follow the instructions on the package.

Prune vines immediately after blossoming, in the late spring, to encourage early blooming during the next growing season.
