How to Use a Hairpin
Having fun with your hair, experimenting with new looks and styling elegant updos all often require the use of a hairpin. Correct positioning and application can ease headaches and help you hold down those fly-aways or keep your mane in place. With strategic placement, you can hide your hairpins under layers or waves of hair. On the other hand, some hairpins cry out to be noticed, with fun or elegant accents. Try looking at your favorite accessories store to find pins packed with personality. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
Hold your hair in the desired style with one hand while you hold your hairpin in the other. For a tight hold, use an unadjusted hairpin.
-
2
Set the open end of the hairpin against your head at such an angle that the target section of hair is ready to slide between the prongs. If necessary, separate the ends slightly with your hand.
-
-
3
Press the hairpin against the hair and forward. Make sure the section of hair is securely held between the two prongs of the hairpin.
-
4
For larger pieces or a looser hold, pull the two ends of the hairpin gently away from each other. When you have created a slight gap, begin with Step 2.
-
5
Use multiple pins until all hair is secured. Do not force large sections of hair into the hairpin, as this will only ruin the holding power of your hairpin.
