With several easy-to-follow steps, you can learn how to remove that ugly animation--whether it's a single item with an animation or an obnoxious slide transition.

      Open your PowerPoint presentation and click on the slide with the animation you wish to remove. It should appear on the left with all the other slides.

      Once you have the slide selected, click the "Animations" tab at the top of the window.

      If you are looking to remove an animation from an item on the slide, click on that item, then click "Custom Animation" in the top left. A window will pop up on the right-hand side of the screen.

      Click "Remove." Your animation will be removed immediately.

      Open your presentation. Go to the left-hand column and click on the slide with the transition you want to remove.

      Click on the first icon (the blank-looking slide.) This represents "No Transition." Clicking this will remove the slide transition animation.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be careful not to confuse slide transitions with object animations. Slide transitions are animations that provide a flashy way to go from one slide to the next. Object animations occur separately from slide transitions, and must be removed as such.
