If you are looking to eliminate bumps and discomfort associated with shaving, waxing may be the answer for you! Waxing removes the hair directly from the folicle thus eliminating those black dots as well as other problems shaving can leave behind. Waxing also lasts signifigantly longer than shaving. However, it is moderately painful. I am not going to lie, it will be quite a shock for you at first, but after doing it a few times your skin will become less sensitive to the process. It also causes a reduction in the hair thickness of your hair growth with most.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

PREPARARTION. If you are waxing at home always do it OFF a surface covered in carpet and set down a towel that you don't mind possibly ruining. Keep all clothing away from wax. Before you wax thoroughly clean the area. There is no need to exfoliate b/c waxing will help you do so and there is no need to doubly irritate your skin. make sure you are dry any moisture, including lotion, will cause the wax to slip away from the hair and make hair removal impossible.

  2. Step 2

Waxing. Purchase GiGi Strip Free Microwave Formula Wax. It can be found out your local Sally's Beauty Supply. it only takes 30 seconds to 1 minute to heat up in your microwave and waxes effectively at a lukewarm temperature making it impossible to burn or scar your skin. Next take a small wooden spatula for waxing, which can also be purchased from Sally's, and apply the waxing in a downward motion in a nice straight line. Allow wax to set on a skin for at least 10-15 seconds then gently pat it. next, pull skin taught. grip wax and pull from the end in an upward motion. Repeat this until desired amount of hair has been removed.

  3. Step 3

AFTERCARE. Now you can soothe your skin with a light oil or petroleum jelly. You can also by special products from the beauty supply meant soothe skin very well after epilation. After allowing your skin to calm down you may now wash the area lightly. Use oil, olive vitamin E or coconut will work, to remove any left over wax. Now you may apply an unscented moisturizer that doesn't block pores to your skin. Repeat the waxing process every 3-6 weeks.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take an anti-inflammatory a half an hour before waxing to reduce the pain. It should dull your nerves and make the experience alot less painful. Ibuprofen is a great choice. Tylenol is not because it is a blood thinner and may make you bleed more when waxing. Ask your pharmacist for a pain killer not containing blood thinners or a topical analgesic.
  • Do not tan for a week or so after waxing.
  • A day or two after waxing buff the area with a wash towel to remove any dead skin left behind. This should help prevent any dead skin from blocking the hair follicle and causing ingrown hairs. You can also use a mild exfoliator.
  • Be hair before you wax. short hair won't give the wax anything to hold onto. You hair has to have grown out for almost a week to be long enough to wax.
