Sunless tanning solutions are a quick and easy way to appear tan for the summer without spending countless hours sunbathing. Long exposure to the sun is also considered the main factor in all skin cancers, so using sunless tanners will reduce your risk. Sunless tanning solutions are available in stores, some with a high price tag, but you can make your own at home with a few simple ingredients.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mixing bowl Lotion Cocoa powder Sunscreen Shimmer Lotion bottle
  1. Step 1

Place 2 cups of lotion into a mixing bowl. It's best to use a white lotion with no scent.

  2. Step 2

Add half a cup of sunscreen to the bowl. For best results, use waterproof sunscreen.

  3. Step 3

If desired, add 1 tbsp. of clear body shimmer powder to the mixture. Mix well.

  4. Step 4

Add 1 tbsp. of cocoa powder into the mixture at a time. Continue adding cocoa until you have reached the color you desire. Keep in mind that the lotion itself will be slightly darker than it will appear on your skin.

  5. Step 5

Test your sunless tanner. Apply a small amount to your stomach, where the color absorbs the most. If the color is too light for your liking, continue adding cocoa powder. If it's too dark, mix in more lotion.

  6. Step 6

Put your final product into a lotion bottle. You can find lotion squirt bottles in most drugstores.
