Step 1
Have a grocery list with you.Have a Grocery List.
Make sure you keep the list with you. Better yet make your list on your iPhone or Blackberry (or iPod touch). You can make the list as you run out of things or recipes you want to create. There are sites online for healthy heart grocery shopping such as checkmark.org or tadalist.com you can download to your PDA or phone. -
Step 2
Scan the top and bottom of the shelves.
All the high priced items are at eye level. The eye level is a premium and some companies pay the stores to be in the middle. Read the labels and compare a well known brand to a smaller named brand that is less the price and usually they have less salt, fat or other not so good for you ingredients. -
Step 3
Low fat foods have other hidden ingredients that are ........Be leery of the low fat claims.
Usually when it says low fat something else is added that is not healthy.
Best to eat as natural, unprocessed as you possibly can. -
Step 4
Go to self checkout, save time, money and calories.Go to the self checkout if they have one.
Buying candy and things you do not need by the cash register while you wait in line can add up the calories plus more expense.
