Have a Great NYC Date Without Breaking Your Wallet

If you are visiting NYC with that special someone or if you're already a resident of NYC looking for great places to go on a date WITHOUT breaking your wallet, I have listed a few locations for you here. I've written them with no particular order, nor is it necessary to do everything on the list. Enjoy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Walk the Brooklyn bridge during sunset. It's romantic and it does not cost a thing. You can enter the bridge near City Hall in the Manhattan side. It takes about 20-30 minutes to walk the whole thing. Once at the end of the bridge, you can go to the world famous "Grimaldi's Pizzeria" for a cheap, yet delicious eat in the Dumbo Area. Grimaldi's address is 19 Old Fulton Street.

  2. Step 2

While you are still in Brooklyn, visit the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, where you will encounter breath-taking scenery of the water, Manhattan, as well as the bridges of NYC. Then, visit the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory for cheap dessert located right there at 1 Water Street. Yumm. To get to the promenade, take the 2 or 3 trains to Clark Street.

  3. Step 3

Visit Central Park. It's a well known tourist attraction as well as a favorite for locals. Go there at around lunchtime and have a picnic just for the two of you. Enjoy the sun. Then, visit the Central Park Zoo or go row boating near the Central Park Boathouse. If you don't want to spend any money, go visit and feed the ducks. Visit CentralPark.com for more information including directions and prices of activities. You may get to the park by taking the Q to 57th Street.

  4. Step 4

You can't come to New York City and not visit Times Square. This district is mostly dedicated to wining and dining, theater and some shopping. If you decide that you want a bite to eat, stop by any of the restaurants from West 43rd - West 49th. These are all rated restaurants with various themes and cuisines. My recommendations are Brazil, Brazil on West 46th, Trattoria Dopo Teatro on West 44th and Brasserie 1605 on Broadway. However, I have no doubt that all the restaurants there are yummy. Don't forget to visit the world's largest Toys R Us at 1530 Broadway. Ferris wheel costs $4 per person. Most trains of the New York City Transit System will stop at Times Square.

  5. Step 5

If you've had enough fun in Manhattan. Make your way to the Staten Island Ferry. It's romantic and it is free. Get a gorgeous view of New York Harbor. Take pictures. Enjoy a kiss. Do whatever! You can visit SIferry.com for schedules.

  6. Step 6

Finally, one last place you should visit is the legendary and beloved Coney Island in Brooklyn. You can take the D,F,N or Q trains all the way to the last stop at Stillwell Avenue. My advice is to go there around noon and take a trip to the New York Aquarium on Surf Avenue. Afterwards, go straight onto the Boardwalk and enjoy the beach or walk up to the fun and games. Ride the Wonder Wheel or the famous Cyclone rollercoaster. Enjoy water gun races and other carnival style games. Win a teddy bear for the lady. Get a hot dog from Nathans. If you happen to go on a summer Friday night, stick around for fireworks at around 9:30 PM. Fireworks happen every Friday unless there is bad weather. You can visit ConeyIsland.com for more info.

on 12/6/2009 One thing to add, don't bring a car. I broke my wallet just paying tolls and for parking. Your advice is dead on though. A lot of fun places to go for free. Recommend.
