Things You'll Need:
- Organic almond butter
- rye crackers (Wasa is good)
- honey (optional)
-
Step 1
Let's face it - we don't eat right. There are a lot of people with diabetes, and countless others who have issues with hypoglycemia and sensitivity to the foods they eat.
Weight problems are also prevalent these days. We try to cut back on our eating, and a lot of us decide that skipping breakfast is the way to go, only to stop for a donuts or high-calorie muffin instead. -
Step 2
What can you do? You need to give your body some calories to get your metabolism working. A light breakfast will give you that kick start on the day, and this simple step will last you all day. Why make weight control more difficult than it needs to be!
Here's another important fact: your glycemic level is the sugar balance in your body. You don't have to have diabetes to be sensitive to sugars. In fact, too much sugar can cause an overrun of candida, making you fat, sluggish, and gassy. Sounds fun, eh? -
Step 3
Here's what you can do to kick start your metabolism, get the nutrients you need to start your day, keep your blood sugar and glycemic level under control, and have a healthy, nourishing start to your day.
Here goes: rye crisps with almond butter are an easy start to the day. You don't need to cook, in fact you don't even need a plate. The almond butter gives you protein, and is low in carbohydrates. The fats are "healthy" fats, so don't worry about that part of the equation. Rye crackers are incredibly low in carbohydrates and give you fiber, giving you even more balance in the glycemic table. If you need a little sweet in your crunchy treat you can add a little honey, giving you even more nutrients to start your day!!

on 7/14/2009 I did the almond butter/rye cracker breakfast each day during my two weeks in the desert - my energy level all day was fantastic, and I finished writing my book!
