Backup & Restore a Company File in Quickbooks

If you use QuickBooks Pro software, you should back up your company files so you don't lose important data. You can also use your backups to transfer files to a different computer.

Instructions

Backing Up QuickBooks Files

1. Insert your backup storage device into your computer.

2. Access the "File" menu in QuickBooks and select "Back Up."

3. Choose the "Back Up Company File" tab. Click "Browse" to change the name of the file and to specify the backup location.

4. Click "Save" and "OK" to back up the file.

Restoring QuickBooks Files

1. Insert your backup storage device into your computer.

2. Go to the "File" menu in QuickBooks and select "Open or Restore Company."

3. Click "Restore a Backup Copy (.qbb)" and "Next."

4. Select "Local Backup" and "Next." Select the file that you want to restore and click "Open."
