How to Update the Database in AVG Free Anti-Virus

The AVG Anti-Virus program normally updates itself automatically; however, if your computer has not been connected to the Internet for a long time or you disabled the automated updates, you will benefit from periodically doing manual updates to the antivirus database. Keeping the database up to date ensures you are always protected from the latest threats.

Instructions

1. Double-click the AVG icon in your system tray, found next to the clock on the taskbar, to open the AVG interface window.

2. Click the "Update Now" button on the left of the window. The interface will display a progress bar during the update process, as well as a message stating when the update is completed.

3. Click the red "X" in the upper right corner of the AVG interface window to close it.

Tips & Warnings

• You can also start the update process by right-clicking the AVG system tray icon and selecting "Update now."

• After the update is complete, perform a scan to ensure that the computer is virus free.
