Step 1
You hear about Boar Bristle brushes all the time. They are usually quite expensive. Are they the best? Probably, all things considered, yes. They are made from the hair of wild boars. No wonder they are expensive. I'd hate to be the one in charge of gathering raw materials for production!
They make your hair shine, and do the least damage. Some manufacturers reinforce the bristles with nylon so they are not quite so soft. -
Step 2
What kind of brush is best if you have long, long hair? A wide-paddled brush is good because it covers more ground! These are also good for very straight hair, but you might want to use a brush with a padded cushion and ball-tips to prevent the dreaded breakage that shows up so much more on long straight hair.
-
Step 3
If you are lucky enough to have a head full of curly hair, you are lucky enough to not even have to buy a brush! Unless you are straightening your hair, you shouldn't use a brush. And, then it should be only a boar bristle brush.
-
Step 4
What about extremely limp, fine hair? Buy a vented brush with ball tips. You can get some extra volume in there when you blow dry.
-
Step 5
Grey hair is not only a different color, but even if dyed, is a coarser texture. Buy a nice brush with stiffer bristles to style your hair and get it to do what you want.
-
Step 6
With children's hair, be sure you buy a brush made for children's hair, especially under two years of age. Their little scalps are tender, and their hair is soft and fragile.
