Converting your clawfoot tub into a shower combination is possible if you have a little bit of do-it-yourself plumbing skill and the patience to install a conversion kit. If you aren't comfortable doing it yourself, hire a professional.   1. How to Convert a Clawfoot Tub

    • 1

      Turn off the water supply to your clawfoot tub.

      Remove the original faucet and hardware.

      Install the new faucet into the two holes in the clawfoot tub. Insert the supply tubes into the inlet shanks and tighten the water supply nut.

      Attach the shower riser connector and shower closure connector to the two long "u" shaped tubes using the supplied screws. This becomes your rectangular shower enclosure. Attach the wall brace to the wall and the ceiling brace to the ceiling, screwing them into place.

      Install the shower riser (the long pipe that brings the water up from the water supply in the tub). Use the included coupling connector, threading it with Teflon tape. Attach the shower head to the riser.

      Insert the shower riser pipe into the faucet and tighten the riser nut.

      Turn on the water supply, start your new shower and check for leaks. If no leaks are found, add your shower curtain and decor. If you do find any leaks, turn the water supply off again and check all of the connections to make sure they are tight.
