It has been said that "a picture is worth a thousand words." If that is the case, a photo display must be worth much more. By grouping pictures together, you will draw attention to your favorite photographs and create an eye-catching display in any room.

    Creating a Picture Display

  1. Step 1

The first and most important aspect of creating a photo display is choosing the pictures you want to use. A photo display is most effective when the photos are grouped by a similar theme. For instance, you could frame photos of family vacations or a favorite place. Another idea is to display photos taken over the years of one family member, such as a son or daughter.

  2. Step 2

Choose the frames. This will make the biggest impact on how your photo display looks. In general, pick frames that are in the same color group, although they can be in varying shades. For example, a baby blue frame could sit alongside a cornflower blue frame, but pairing one with bright red would not be pleasing to the eye. In addition to varying the shade, you will want to vary the size and shape. This is especially important when grouping all black frames.

  3. Step 3

Place the chosen photographs into the desired frames.

  4. Step 4

Cluster the frames on top of a table, mantle or other noticeable area. Keep taller frames in the back so not to obscure the smaller ones.

Tips & Warnings
  • If desired, personalize the frames with a paint pen. For instance, if displaying family photos, consider noting on the frame the year and the destination. Consider switching out the photographs according to the seasons, such as beach photos in the summer and Christmas photos in the winter. To create a photo display on a wall, follow the steps above, except be sure to purchase frames that have hooks on the back. Hammer in nails in the desired spots, and hang the frames closely together on a wall.
  • It is best not to line up the frames in a perfect order. Randomly placed frames placed in a cluster will create a more pleasing display than ones that are rigidly set.
