There are two types of Xbox 360 video game systems that you can purchase--the Premium model and the Core System. The Core System comes without a hard drive, but the Premium model comes with a hard drive. Whether you are adding a hard drive to your Xbox 360 video game system or changing your hard drive, the process is simple and quick.

Press the Ring light on the front of the game console, and turn off the power on your Xbox 360.

Unplug your Xbox 360 from the power outlet to prevent accidentally pressing the Ring light and turning the game console back on.

Place your new hard drive over the hard drive bay with the front position (the narrow end of the hard drive) pointed toward the front of the game console.

Place the broad end (the back) of your new hard drive against the back of your game console's hard drive bay.

  7. Step 7

Carefully press the front end of your new hard drive down until the tab clicks.

Tips & Warnings
  • The 120GB hard drive for the Xbox 360 has the largest storage option for the game console.
  • Do not move your Xbox 360 when the unit is turned on because it will damage the game console system. To avoid damaging or contaminating the hard drive, do not touch the bay contacts on the hard drive with your fingers or any metal objects.
