Instructions

      Mix 1-1/4 to 1-1/3 cups of sea salt with two tablespoons of baking soda in a bowl. Sea salt is available at health stores.

      Mix one to two drops of your favorite essential oils into the sea salt mixture. D Herbs advises using two drops of peppermint oil, two drops of eucalyptus and two drops of wintergreen to relieve small aches and pains (see Reference 2). You can experiment with different oils until you find a combination you prefer.

      Add one to two drops of glycerin to the salt mixture. Glycerin is used in soap and will help make the skin silky and smooth.

      Run your bath with water as hot as you can comfortably relax in. Add at least three heaping tablespoons of the salt mixture into the bath.

Tips & Warnings

  • Mix food coloring with the salts to give them an attractive color. Sea salt soaks make good gifts when packaged attractively in jars.
