Things You'll Need:
- Rag
-
Step 1
Examine where the chain has slipped off. Most commonly, the chain will be off of the front gear ring, but it may have slipped off of the gears in the back.
-
Step 2
Use the rag to pick up the chain. Drop the chain onto the teeth of the chain ring so that three or four of the chain links are on the teeth.
-
Step 3
Have an assistant hold the rear wheel off of the ground, and slowly turn the pedals forward, reseating the chain onto the teeth of the front gear ring.
-
Step 4
Repeat Steps 2 and 3 if the chain is off of the rear gears, but have the assistant hold the front wheel off of the ground.
