How to Change a Name in Gtalk

This information allows you to change your viewable nickname, or alias, in Google Talk.

Steps to take to change your name in Google Talk

1. Sign in to your Google Talk account.

2. Go to to the Settings tab on the right-hand side of the screen. Click it.

3. This opens a new window, which should be automatically set to the General tab. If the General tab is not highlighted on the left side panel, highlight it by clicking on it. When you're in the General tab, the second from bottom tab is the Account Settings tab. Click on it.

4. This takes you to a Google page, through your browser, where on the top left-hand side, beside the image, is a highlighted section with two parts, Create a Profile and Edit your Personal Info. Click the Edit your Personal Info highlighted words..

5. You are now at your profile on Google Talk, where on line three you're able to enter in a new alias, or nickname. Do this, and then save at the bottom of the page. Sign out of your Google Talk account then sign back in again for the change to take effect.

Tips & Warnings

• Ensure you're connected to the Internet.

• Remember that this does not change the way that your friends have your name displayed in their contact lists.
