How to Use a George Foreman Grill (GR14BWC)
Boxing champ George Foreman struck gold when he attached his name to an electric grill produced by Salton Inc. in 1994. The genial pitchman has propelled the various forms of the grill to nearly 100 million units sold. Ease of use is part of the product's appeal, but improper treatment will damage the appliance and could pose a danger for the user. Follow these instructions to safely use and maintain the GR14BWC model of the grill -- the version that includes a bread warmer.

Cooking With the Grill
-
1
Wipe the grill surface with a damp cloth to remove any dust that might have accumulated with storage.
-
2
Close the grill lid and plug grill into a standard 120-volt household outlet. Check to make sure the light on top of the grill is on and allow the grill to preheat for at least five minutes.
-
3
Open the grill using a potholder or oven mitt, and slide the manufacturer-provided plastic drip tray below the front base of the grill. If you have lost the drip tray, you can substitute a heat-safe dish that is large enough to go across the grill's length.
-

Place the uncooked food on the grill surface and close the lid. Allow food to cook to desired wellness. Some common foods' cooking times are: eight to 10 minutes for an eight-ounce hamburger, three to five minutes for a salmon fillet, five to six minutes for a pork loin and nine minutes for a chicken breast.
-
5
When making a sandwich or burger, place buns or bread in the bread warmer on the top of the grill if desired. This will heat the bread while your food is cooking. Do not put anything but bread products in this part of the machine.
-
6
After the cooking time has elapsed, unplug the machine and open the lid, using the potholder or oven mitts. Remove the food with plastic or wooden utensils. A plastic spatula is supplied with the machine. Remove bread products from the bread warmer if in use and serve.
-
7
Empty the grease from the drip tray after it has cooled.
Cleaning and Storage
-
1
Make sure the grill is unplugged and has cooled from cooking.
-
2
Position the drip guard or plate under the grill and scrape any chunks of fat or food from the grill surface with either a plastic or wooden utensil or the plastic scraping device supplied with the grill. Wipe grill surface clean with a damp cloth or sponge.
-
3
Use a non-metallic scouring pad to remove any residue that cannot be removed with the utensils.
-
4
Dump the remnants in the drip tray into the trash and clean the tray with dish soap and water. Dry it well.
-
5
Wipe the outside of the grill with a warm, damp sponge and dry it with a cloth. Use the sponge to wipe the bread warmer as well if it was used. Wrap the power cord around the storage area at the bottom of the grill and store it in a cabinet or drawer.

Tips & Warnings
Different models of the grill come with removable trays for easier cleaning.
Do not use metal utensils or abrasive cleaning devices on the grill; this will damage its non-stick surface. Never immerse the grill in water. This could damage the grill or cause an electric shock.
