Beatport is an online music store that specializes in electronica and techno dance music. It is a reseller, not a record company, so they do not accept unsolicited submissions. If you wish to sell your music on Beatport, you will have to work through a record company.

Selling your music on Beatport

1. Make music. Use your finest DJ skills to create the funkiest, grooviest and illest beats and sounds the world has ever encountered.

2. Promote your music. Since Beatport specializes in club music, take your music to clubs and ask DJs to play it. There might be a record company executive in the audience looking for the next big thing in electronic music.

3. Try to get signed to a record label. Astralwerks Records, home to The Pet Shop Boys and Air, accepts unsolicited demos in CD form (see Resources).

4. Once you get your record deal, request that your music be sold on Beatport. As many electronic music fans buy their music online, your record will jump at the chance to put your music in as many ears as possible.

5. Direct all of your family and friends to Beatport. Doesn't make much sense to have your music on Beatport if no one knows it's there.
