How to Make a Spartan Helmet Out of Paper
The helmet is the most integral part of a Spartan costume. This helmet design is easy to make using materials that you may have lying around the house already. These instructions can easily be altered to create a helmet of any shape or design for any costume that you might imagine. You can even substitute materials. Instead of using paper, you can use cardboard. Also, you can use whatever colors you'd like. The colors mentioned here are merely suggestions.

1
Glue together 3 or 4 pieces of black construction paper and trim so that you have a big piece that is 11 inches tall and as wide as the circumference of your head. Glue the ends together so that you get a tube that is 11 inches tall and wide enough to fit over and around your head.
-
2
Cut slits into the top of the tube that are about 4 inches long and are about 1 inch apart. Bring the ends of the slits together and glue them so that they form a dome.

-
3
Put the "dome" over your head and mark where your eyes, nose, and mouth are. Refer to the image in the "References" section and cut out a similar hole for your eyes and mouth.
-
4
Cut a triangular shape (4 inches tall with a base 5 inches wide) out of a black piece of construction paper. Glue this triangle, point up, to the forehead of the helmet.
-
5
Cut the red construction paper into strips 2 inches long and 1/2 an inch wide. Glue these strips in a line across the top and back of the helmet for a crest (refer to side view image in "References" section)
