How to Close a Windows Live / Hotmail Account

Closing a Windows Live and Hotmail account is easy if you follow these steps. According to the MSN help site there are two types of Microsoft Passport account that can be closed: those with an e-mail address supplied by MSN and those that use non-MSN e-mail addresses.

  • Computer
  • Internet
  1. Step 1

    Before you start you should remember that closing the account will completely delete all the information associated with the account and you will not be able to reopen the account.

    Login to your Windows Live / Hotmail account and go to the front page of your account. Once you are at the front page find the "Options" link and click it.

    Once you click the options link a drop down menu will appear. Now click the "More Options" menu.

    Once you are brought to a page, find the option on the left side of the screen titled "Mail" and click it.

    Once you are brought to a page, find the "View and edit your personal information" and click it.

    At the bottom of this page there is a link that is titled "Close Account." If you click this it should lead you through the account closing process.

on 8/12/2009 how do i change from msn.com to hotmail.com? i pay $11/month and would like to get rid of this bill. i need all e-amils and folders transferred.
