Do a Pirate Thematic Unit in Your Classroom

Every year I end the year with a "Pirate" thematic unit. Here are some of the activities that we do in my kindergarten class. This is one of the kids' favorite units of the year. And I'm convinced it will be a favorite of your kids as well!

Instructions

    • 1

Create pirate cutting exercises. The kids love these!

    • 2

Do pirate language arts activities with pirate vocabulary. I have the kids write: "This is a pirate hat, This is a pirate cannon..."

    • 3

      Create more pirate exercises.

    • 4

Create pirate coloring exercises for the kids or go buy some pirate coloring books.

    • 5

Do pirate mapping exercises to teach the kids their directions.

    • 6

Create an end-of-year Pirate math review sheet for the kids to do.

    • 7

Play Pirate Mystery Word with the kids.

    • 8

Create a pirate word search for the kids to do. I have the kids use colored pencils whenever they do a word search and have them circle a word they find and use the same color to cross it out at the bottom.
