Make a Spicy Cranberry Green Tea

I love to make my spicy cranberry green tea year-round. In the winter I serve it hot. In the summer I serve it cold (even though most people associate these flavors with colder weather). Cranberries are refreshing any time of year.

The following recipe makes approximately four portions. You can also change around some of the ingredients (see Resources below for some more options).

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 2 1/2 cups cranberry juice (naturally sweetened or unsweetened)
  • 2 green tea bags or 2 tsp. dried green tea
  • 1 cinnamon stick, broken into pieces.
  • Honey to taste (optional)
  1. Step 1

Gently heat water and cranberry juice over medium heat. Turn the heat off once it's heated through and bubbles just start to break the surface.

  2. Step 2

Add green tea and cinnamon and steep for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bag and steep the cinnamon for an additional 5 minutes.

  3. Step 3

Remove cinnamon and reheat on medium low for a few minutes if serving hot. Pour into mugs and garnish with a cinnamon stick.

  4. Step 4

If serving cold, don't reheat. Just remove the cinnamon and pour into glasses over ice.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can make this in large quantities and serve it as a party punch.
  • You can substitute black or white tea for the green tea.
  • Try stirring in some apple cider too for an apple cider punch.
