Things You'll Need:
- time
- desire to save money
-
Step 1
VISIT YOUR LOCAL HOME SUPPLY STORE
Take a look at the cabinet displays in your local home building supply store. You will be able to get a feel for the types of construction materials, styles and finishes that appeal to you best. Take a look at the prices. -
Step 2
CONSIDER YOUR BUDGET AND YOUR SKILLS
Consider your building or remodeling budget. Take stock of your own skills in regard to cabinet installation, and the possibility of correcting a flaw in a cabinet.
Some cabinet outlets offer cabinets for sale that didn't quite make the cut to the retail store: they will have a scratch or some other imperfection. -
Step 3
DO AN ONLINE SEARCH FOR DISCOUNT KITCHEN CABINETS
Do an online search to find out what is out there. Be sure to use the name of your town or state in the keyword search to find the outlets and discount stores near you. For instance, if you live in Missouri, you will want to type in "kitchen cabinets Missouri" and "discount kitchen cabinets Missouri" and "kitchen cabinet outlet Missouri." -
Step 4
VISIT KITCHEN CABINET OUTLETS
If at all possible, take the time to visit the kitchen cabinet outlets nearest to you before making up your mind about where and how to purchase your cabinets.
Some outlets, especially the ones that offer the lowest prices due to imperfections in the cabinets, open only on certain days of the month, and it is first come first served. At these outlets, you will have the least choice, but you will pay the lowest prices, sometimes paying as low as $40 for a cabinet that would have cost you thousands of dollars.
If you have more time than money, this may be the way you want to go.
