Things You'll Need:
- Food to be "riced" Ricer
-
Step 1
Any food that you intend to use in the ricer should be cooked through and cut into small pieces. The size depends on your particular ricer, but usually will be approximately one-inch pieces. Boiling or roasting provides the best results to lock in the moisture.
-
Step 2
If the food has been boiled, drain thoroughly in a colander.
-
Step 3
Your ricer should come with a number of metal dies with varying sized holes. Choose the die you would like to use and place it into the ricer.
-
Step 4
Using a spoon, place the cooked food into the ricer. Be careful not to over pack the ricer so the food will slide through easily.
-
Step 5
Holding the ricer over a bowl, press the handle down. This will force the food through the die. This is called "ricing." Repeat step 5 until all of the food has been riced.
