Lacing your shoes keeps the fit snug and prevents slipping. A properly laced shoe can also prevent blisters and irritation to your feet. Learn how to traditionally lace your shoes in the criss-cross style.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin with unlaced shoes; remove the laces from your shoes if necessary. Thread the shoelace horizontally across the bottom, with the ends emerging up through the eyelets on the outside of the shoe.

  2. Step 2

Run the ends of each lace under the opposite side of the shoe and up through the closest eyelet, and bring it up through the eyelet to emerge on the top side. The laces should cross over each other once, to form an "x."

  3. Step 3

Continue crossing your laces in this fashion until you reach the top eyelet. Secure with a bow or knot.
