How to Make a Medieval Flail

Whether it's for a costume or just a kid's toy, a flail is the essential medieval weapon. A real working flail would be complicated and expensive to make and would be dangerous once it was finished. Here is a guide on how to make a costume or ornamental flail. However, just because it's made from cheap materials doesn't mean it has to look bad. This flail will look frighteningly authentic.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Medium sized styrofoam ball 1 sheet of paper Masking tape 2 feet of string Broomstick or PVC pipe 2 feet long Black spray paint Scissors

1. Using the masking tape, attach the string securely to the styrofoam ball. Wrap the string and masking tape around the entire diameter of the ball, if needed.

2. Cut out small paper circles and, using tape, form them into mini cones. Tape the cones all over the styrofoam ball, forming spikes.

3. Tape the other end of the string to one end of the broomstick or PVC pipe. Spray-paint the entire flail black.
