Instructions

    • 1

Open Photoshop. Then go to File and click "New". Make the size and resolution settings whatever you need for your project. Remember that web images are usually 72 pixels per inch, while something being professionally printed will need to be at least 150.

    • 2

Create a new layer. Use the "Paint Bucket" tool to fill the layer with a light brown.

    • 3

Go to Filters, then Noise, and select "Add Noise." Make the "Amount" about 7. Then go to Filter, then Blur, and select "Gaussian Blur". Set the radius to about 2.

    • 4

Go to the "Rectangular Marquee" tool, and make a large selection taking up most of the canvas. Then select the "Lasso Selection" tool, hold down the ALT key, and use the tool to cut away a looped selection from bottom of the existing selection. Do it in a jagged line to look like a tear.

    • 5

Go to the bottom of the Layers panel, and click on the "Mask" icon. This removes the selection, leaving the paper. Now go to the bottom of the Layer panel and select "Blending Options." Click on the "Drop Shadow" effect, going with the default settings.
