How to Create a Scrapbook Room

1
Select and measure the area where the scrapbook room will be located. Write down the measurements. Include any closet space.

2
Review your scrapbook supplies and determine exactly what supplies require storage. Examine any furniture you seek to utilize in the room and take measurements of the furniture. If purchasing furniture, visit craft stores to assess whether specially designed scrapbook furniture will fulfill your scrapbook room design plan.

Examine the lighting source in the scrapbook room and determine where your primary workspace will be located. Check to see that the lighting source is adequate. If the source is inadequate, decide where additional lighting is required and obtain the lighting.

Make a drawing of the space, utilizing the measurements of the room and the furniture as a guide. Decide the best layout for furniture placement, shelving placement and the primary work space. Review the dimensions of the closet space, if any, and determine whether you can utilize this space in your room design.

Tips & Warnings
If you plan to store scrapbook supplies on the shelves you are installing, check the storage receptacles currently housing scrapbook supplies to make sure they will fit on the width of the shelving. Decorate the walls in the room with images, photos and art that inspire creativity and make you feel comfortable. Also, think about painting the walls in the room with a bright, upbeat color. Since creating a scrapbook page often produces scraps of paper and other clippings, keep a garbage can in the room.
If there are small children in the house, be sure to store sharp scrapbook materials such as scissors and exacto knives on high shelves where they are out of reach.
