VOB files are the files that comprise a DVD disc. These files contain all audio and video information for the movie, menus and additional features found on the DVD. PSP game consoles are capable of movie playback, but with the limited available space on PSP memory stick, many gamers use the standard PSP file type of PSP MP4s to save movie files for play on their console. It is possible to convert the VOB files from DVDs into PSP MP4 files.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open up the Media-Convert web page (see Resources). Media-Convert is a free converter that does numerous types of file conversion, including video conversions such as VOB to PSP.

  2. Step 2

Pull the VOB file into Media-Convert. Click on "Browse" next to the "File" box and find the VOB on the hard drive. Click "Open" to pull the VOB into the converter. The file type should be recognized automatically and "DVD Video Object (.vob)" should appear in the "Input format" box.

  3. Step 3

Select the PSP output format. When you choose the "SONY PSP" option in the first "Output format" box, the second box beside output format will fill in automatically.

  4. Step 4

Name the PSP file. The "Rename file to" box is in "Advanced settings." If you fail to provide a name for the converted file, it will automatically be given the same name as the original file.

  5. Step 5

Click the "OK" button. This will begin the conversion. When the PSP MP4 has been created, Media-Convert will redirect you to a new screen. There will be a download link for your new PSP file on this screen. Click the link and choose "Save as" to save a copy to your computer.
