How to Tie Topsiders

Topsiders are a staple in the world of preppy dressing, and are perfect for crossing over from casual to semi-formal. Don't forget to wear them when you are out on your boat, as that is what they are intended for after all. Instructions

1. Put the topsiders on, but do not tie the laces.

2. Walk around in the untied topsiders.

3. Sit down after walking around and pull the laces until barely taut, eyelet by eyelet. This will ensure a loose, comfortable and snug fit.

4. Without tightening the laces further, tie the loose ends into a bow. Walk around again, letting the pressure become even on each section of lacing.

5. Sit back down and repeat Step 3, then tie the loose ends again. The laces should now be at a comfortable tension level. Adjust after continued wear as the leather in both the shoes and laces will stretch out after use.
