Deer meat steaks--or "venison" steaks--are delicious and easy to prepare. If you live in an area that has a sizable deer population, and you have a hunter in the family, you may be supplied with an inexpensive and abundant source of meat. There are many various recipes for deer meat. Grilled deer meat steaks are one of the tastiest ways to prepare this food.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Deer meat steaks Italian salad dressing Melted butter Basting brush Grill brush or scraper Meat thermometer (optional)
  1. Step 1

Marinate the steaks in Italian dressing for at least 2 hours. Make sure the steaks are completely covered by the dressing. You can even allow the steaks to marinate overnight if you have time.

  2. Step 2

Light the grill and turn the burners on high in order to burn off any leftover residue. Use a grill scraper/brush combination to clean off the grill after it has been on for about 5 minutes. Reduce heat to medium.

  3. Step 3

Place the deer meat steaks on the grill. Throw away the marinade. Allow the steaks to cook about 8 minutes on each side.

  4. Step 4

Use a meat fork to turn the steaks after the initial 8 minutes. If you like well-done steak, add a minute or two for each side. Use melted butter to baste the venison if it appears to be drying out. If you are unsure whether the steaks are done and don't want to cut into them to test, insert a meat thermometer. The internal temperature should be at least 185 degrees Fahrenheit.

  5. Step 5

Remove the steaks from the grill. Serve with any number of side items, such as salad and potatoes. If you like, try steak sauce on your steaks to compliment the flavor.
