Just the thought of a hot fudge sundae conjures up images of calorie laden decadence. If you're targeting weight loss and still want to indulge every once in a while, there is hope. You absolutely can make a healthier, lower calorie version of a hot fudge sundae that tastes good and fits into a healthy, lower calorie diet. Use this simple, 3 step recipe to make a delicious, low fat hot fudge sundae in a couple of minutes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cool whip lite
  • Pint of fat free, low calorie vanilla frozen yogurt
  • Light, sugar-free maple syrup
  • Hershey's hot fudge sundae topping
  • water
  • bananas
  • chopped almonds
  • maraschino cherries
  1. Step 1

For 1 serving, take 1 table spoon of the hot fudge sundae topping, 2 table spoons of the light sugar-free maple syrup and 2 table spoons of water and heat for 30 seconds in a microwaveable container. The maple syrup adds flavor and consistency but is low calorie so it works well as a topping. Make sure the mixture is liquid (spreadable) and piping hot. Add more water and microwave for longer as needed in order to get the desired consistency.

  2. Step 2

Take one cup of fat free vanilla frozen yogurt and place it in an ice cream bowl. Thinly slice half a banana over the frozen yogurt and take the hot fudge mixture from the microwave bowl and pour it over your delicious low fat concoction.

  3. Step 3

Take one tablespoon of low calorie cool whip lite and top off the bowl. Sprinkle a few chopped almonds as desired and place one maraschino cherry on top. Dig in and enjoy your healthy and guilt-free low calorie dessert.

Tips & Warnings
  • Substitute with different flavors of non fat frozen yogurt based on what your favorite flavors are.
  • Creativity with recipes makes any weight loss program a whole lot easier.
  • Keep portion control in mind when aiming for a lower calorie, healthy diet. Low fat options can also add up in calories if the portion sizes are large.
