Things You'll Need:
- Any Computer (although these instructions are Mac-centric)
- Mozilla Sunbird (see resources section for download)
-
Step 1
Launch Sunbird. If you’ve added its icon on the dock, click on that or go to the “Applications” folder in the Finder and locate it there.
-
Step 2
Select “New Calendar” from the “File” menu at the top, or you can use the keyboard shortcut Command-L.
-
Step 3
Select “On the Network” from the “Create a new calendar” window that pops up; then hit the “Continue” button.
-
Step 4
Click on the radio button next to “CalDav.”
-
Step 5
Type “https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/[Your GCAL ID]/events” in the location field, replacing [Your GCAL ID] with your Google email address or your calendar ID which is found in the Settings of your Google Calendar.
-
Step 6
Enter a descriptive name for your calendar in the “Name” field.
-
Step 7
Select a color for your calendar so you can clearly identify Google Calendar events by clicking on the box next to “Color.”
-
Step 8
Check or uncheck the box next to “Show Alarms” if you want Sunbird to pop up alarms for your synced events.
-
Step 9
Click “Continue” when you’re done.
-
Step 10
Enter your username and password for your Google Calendar account, and if you want to save your password, click on the check box below.
-
Step 11
Click the “OK” button. Your calendar is now added to the “Calendars” tab in Sunbird.

on 7/5/2009 I'm not sure if my last post posted. I see in Lightning 0.9 there is an option in addition to connecting via CalDAV to connect to "Google Calendar". Is this an advancement over the CalDAV method described above?
