Things You'll Need:
- Legos
- Paper
- Crayons
- Marbles
- Anything else they like
-
Step 1
The first way to keep your kids from watching to much TV is to engage them on an interactive level. A parent or guardian must learn to give alternatives to TV watching. I have found that many kids like to build things. A large bucket of legos is a great way to inspire the imaginations of many kids young and old. Legos can be found in large lots on EBay or other auction type web sites.

Step 2
Another way to keep your TV free this summer is to encourage them to draw or paint things. If there is more than one child a good way to keep them interested is to have them compete with what they draw. Kids naturally compete with each other, they will be so excited to draw what they can to win. As the judge you can make sure there is a fair outcome.

Step 3
If you have ever played marbles you will love this next idea. Show a kid a bag of marbles and you will have a hard time getting them out of their hands. kids love to play this game. If you do not know how to play the bags that are sold in the stores also provide instructions on how to play.
-
Step 4
Another way to engage kids is to play with them outside. I have found that many kids love to have an adult play with them. Get a bunch of balls and throw them all over the yard and have a dodge ball war with them all. Kids cannot resist a good ball throwing game.

on 7/8/2009 Excellent ideas - I especially like number 4. Sounds like a fun and healthy way to blow off steam, even for the mommies.
