Your hair grows a set amount per month, typically 1/2 inch. Be sure to maximize that growth by protecting your hair. Brush and comb your hair gently and don't overdo it. Don't brush wet hair and avoid damaging ponytail holders -- opt for fabric-covered bands over elastic instead. And don't over-wash your hair. The natural oils in your hair protect it, so unless you have very oily hair, washing your hair every day may not be a good idea.

Regular, deep-conditioning treatments further enhance your hair's health and prevent dryness and split ends. The longer -- and older -- your hair gets, the more special attention it needs.
