Do you love to debate with co-workers, friends, family and the online community? I do! Winning a debate is something I enjoy immensely. I've learned the key to win debates. You can win debates too by following the steps below.

Decide a stance in the debate and research all applicable material. For example: If you are against legalizing drugs, research all information that supports your argument.

Only use facts in a debate. Research statistics from unbiased sources and use them to your advantage. Opinions cannot help you win debates.

Leave personal experience out of it unless it is a personal experience debate. For example, if you were debating whether or not it is hard to quit smoking. Just because it was easy for you to quit does not mean it will hold up in the debate.

Never attack, name call or patronize during a debate. Pettiness will only hurt you. Be respectful, this is important to win debates.

Practice, practice, practice! Visit debate message boards and watch different debater techniques. The more you debate, the better you become.
