  • 1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 beef rib roast (4 to 6 pounds)

      Preheat the oven to 350 F. Remove the roast beef from the refrigerator and rub it with the seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder and cayenne pepper.

      Place the roast in the roasting pan with the fat side up. Arrange the cubes of butter on top of the roast. Cook uncovered 1 hour and 45 minutes to 3 hours, or until meat reaches desired temperature. For medium rare, the meat thermometer should read 145 F in the center of the roast. Medium is 160 F, and well done is 170 F.

      Let the roast rest 10 to 15 minutes before cutting. To make a gravy, collect the pan drippings and thicken with flour.
