There's not much worse than having your beautiful fruit trees decimated by birds. Rabbits have been known to completely destroy flower and vegetable gardens. A variety of products on the market can deter pests from your garden. There are also a variety of poisons available. If you don't like the idea of using harsh chemicals in your garden to chase away or kill pests, all you need to do is a little housecleaning to get rid of your old CDs. Does this Spark an idea?

      Collect up old CDs. Scour the house for old movie and music CDs. Use outdated computer disks as well. The shinier the better, since the goal is to create a sense of movement in the garden.

      Tie string in the desired length to individual CDs or string them in a row about a foot apart. Use a sturdy string or fishing wire.

      Hang the CDs from fruit-bearing trees and bushes or anywhere you're having problems in your garden with wildlife. Make sure the CDs have room to spin in the wind as that will create more of a surprise factor to pests.

      Attach yellow CDs on the end of a wooden marker or stake. Cover the CD with oil and stick it in the ground next to the plant base to catch flying insect pests.
