How to make strawberry pie

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 1/3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 4 teaspoons plus one tablespoons of milk, keep separate
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 1 package of cream cheese softened (8 ounce package)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 to 1/2 quarts of fresh strawberries thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • dash of salt
  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • 1 package strawberry gelatin (3 ounce size)
  1. Step 1

    If you love fresh strawberries you will love this pie. Not only does it taste good it looks great too. In a large bowl your will combine the flour and salt. You will need to add the shortening in small chunks until the mixture is in the shape of crumbs. You will need to combine the 4 teaspoons milk and water teaspoons of water. You will add this mixture to the crumb mixture. You will need to toss the dough with a fork until the dough forms a ball. Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes.

  2. Step 2

    Roll out the dough until it will fit into a 9 inch pie pan. Transfer the dough to the pie pan. Trim until 1/2 inch beyond pan side. You will need to pinch the crust between your fingers all the way around. Cover crust with foil. Now you will need to bake the crust at 450 degrees for 8 minutes then remove foil and bake 7 minutes longer. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack.

  3. Step 3

    In a small mixing bowl beat the cream cheese, sugar, and one tablespoon of milk until smooth. Spread over the bottom of the crust. Arrange the strawberries over the top. In a saucepan you will combine the sugar, cornstarch, salt, salt, and the 1 3/4 cups of water. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes until it is thickened. Remove from heat and stir in the gelatin and stir until it is dissolved. Chill until partially set. Pour over the strawberries and refrigerate until set. You will need to refrigerate all left overs immediately.
