Things You'll Need:
- Brown Rice
- Mixer with the ability to crack grains
-
Step 1
Brown RicePurchase or find brown rice. I buy mine in bulk at a warehouse store to make making my own brown rice flour more cost efficient.
-
Step 2
Sean adding brown rice to the mixer.Get out your mixer or blender, making sure it has the ability to crack grains and work with dry products. Be sure to use the dry container! My mixer has the dry container clearly marked, which makes it very easy to distinguish. If your mixer container set is not clearly marked, you can tell the dry container from the wet container by the blades. The wet container will have blades that all look the same, while the dry container will have blades they look differently (mine has 2 blades that are pointy and 2 that are flat).

Step 3
Sean using the tamper to move the rice evenly through the mixer.Put one to four cups of brown rice in the container of your mixer. I find larger quantities produce a reduced quality flour. Mix the brown rice until the flour is the consistency you desire, using your machine's tamper to ensure it is all grinded evenly.

Step 4
Finished rice flour in the blender.Use your brown rice flour in your favorite gluten-free recipes or as a thickener for soups and gravies.
