Step 1
Calculate your stride length. Designate a starting point. Walk ten normal steps. Mark the ending point. Measure the total distance covered during the ten steps. Divide the total distance by 10 to get the stride distance. For example, 240 inches divided by 10 is 24 inches. The distance per stride is 24 inches, or 2 feet.

Step 2
Set the time. Hold the "Set" button down for at least two seconds. The time display will blink. Press the "Memory" button to advance the time in one hour increments. Once the hour is correct, press the "Set" button to change the minutes. Press the "Memory" button to advance the minutes in one-minute increments. Once the time is correct, press the "Set" button to advance to the next setting.

Step 3
Set your weight. Once the time is correct and you press the "Set" button, the "Weight Display" will blink. Press the "Memory" button to advance the weight. Once your weight is inputted, press the "Set" button.

Step 4
Set your stride distance. Once you set your weight, the "Stride Distance" will blink. Press the "Memory" button to advance the stride distance in feet. For example, 24 inches will read 2'00" on the display. Press the "Set" button.

Step 5
Press the "Reset" and hold it for at least two seconds, so the display shows 0 as the value of steps, aerobic steps, calories and distance. Attach the unit to your belt or pants, or place it in your upper, front jacket or shirt pocket. Begin walking.
