How to Adhere Vellum
Whether you are making scrapbook layouts, greeting cards or even formal invitations, figuring out the best way to adhere vellum is a challenge. Vellum is a translucent paper. It is available in white, cream, colors and prints, as well as embossed designs. Because it is translucent, most adhesives show, leaving an unattractive visible residue. Choosing the right strategies to adhere vellum can keep your paper crafting project beautiful.

1
Try hiding adhesive residue when you adhere vellum under other scrapbooking embellishments. Buttons, bows, stickers or die cuts can hide the tell-tale residue that your standard glue or adhesive dispenser leaves behind. Use glue sparingly if you opt to hide the residue.

2
Tie or stitch the vellum into place. Use a dull needle to pierce through your vellum and background paper, and stitch with embroidery stitches, as desired. You can also use an awl or paper punch to punch holes through both your vellum and paper and tie them together with ribbon, string or twine.

Use metal embellishments like eyelets or brads to hold the layers of your paper-crafting project together. Choose antique finishes that work well with natural or white vellum, or colorful, painted eyelets and brads for more playful printed vellums.

4
Try glue dots that are made for vellum. These transparent dots allow you to stick vellum to your pages or cards while remaining invisible. Vellum adhesive tapes are also available in a tape dispenser, photo mounts or squares that can be trimmed.

Experiment with spray vellum adhesives, spray mounting and other all-over adhesives for your scrapbooking projects. Special vellum sprays like 3M Spray Mount works well for vellum. An Xyron adhesive machine will change the appearance of vellum slightly, but can also be used to adhere vellum.
