How to Wash Cloth Diapers With Soap Nuts
Soap nuts are a 100-percent natural alternative to using traditional laundry soap. These "nuts" are actually the fruit of the Chinese Soapberry tree, most commonly found in Indonesia, India and Nepal. The fruits are harvested, de-seeded and sun dried to make "soap nuts." The soap nuts contain a natural cleanser known as saponin. Use soap nuts in place of laundry detergent to naturally clean cloth diapers. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Flush any solid waste in the diaper down the toilet. A diaper duck is a handy tool for this purpose, as it will hold the diaper while you flush away the waste. You can then use the diaper duck to wring out the wet diaper.

2
Fill a small canvas bag with three to five soap nuts. Add this to your load of dirty diapers. Do not wash more than 24 diapers at a time.

3
Place the diapers and soap nuts in the washing mashing. Start with a cold rinse cycle. Follow this with a hot/cold wash. The hot water is important, as this will release the saponin in the soap nuts.

Remove the clean laundry and set the soap nuts aside. The diapers can then be dried in the dryer or on a clothes line.
