1. Wait 90 days to a year. Apple products automatically come with a one-year repair warranty on all hardware and a 90 day tech support warranty. You can purchase Applecare anytime during this year and still receive the full benefits for three years. Therefore, wait until your year is almost complete before purchasing Applecare. If you need help from technical support that requires Applecare, then purchase Applecare after the 90 days.

2. Go to Apple.com. Note that you might also find some discounted Applecare products from discount sites such as ebay or Amazon. In most cases, Apple will honor Applecare that is purchased from other location; however, make sure that it is a trusted dealer.

   From Apple's home page, click on the "Store" tab. Then, click on the "Applecare" link that is located under "Popular Accessories>For Mac" on the left-hand side of the website. Alternatively, enter "Applecare" into the "Search" bar.

   Select the appropriate Applecare Protection Plan for your specific product. When you click on a plan, a new window will open detailing the plan coverage. Read through this page to make sure that you selected the correct plan.
