So you've decided to give surfing a go but want to get body ready before hand? It's not as difficult as one could imagine, but there are some techniques and exercises to more prepare the body for surfing.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Surfers need to have excellent swimming skills. Work on becoming a better and stronger swimmer. Learn how to swim a couple of laps at regular pace, then speed it up for a few. Repeat this process several times.

  2. Step 2

    Begin increasing your upper body strength by doing push ups. You'll need that power for all that paddling. You're going to use those shoulders a great deal.

  3. Step 3

    Work on cardio to increase your endurance and stamina. You'll need to be able to keep up the pace and the ability to keep from getting tired quickly. Cardio can be built by running, jumping rope and cycling.

  4. Step 4

    For balance and special moves, build the abs and inner thighs with crunches and swats.

Tips & Warnings
  • When trying to build muscle and get into shape it's a good idea to maintain a well balanced diet. Also increase the protein.
  • Gradually build yourself up at a healthy speed. Don't over do it.
  • You should contact a physician before beginning a new exercise program.
