This article will give you instructions on how to make your own olive oil soap. Learn how to make your own olive oil soap.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small non-stick pot
  • white-plain soap
  • 2 TBSP of olive oil
  • Grater
  • Fork
  • Plate
  • Knife
  1. Step 1

First, you should have some white soap like Ivory soap. You can buy this in craft stores, but I usually just buy Ivory soap and grate it myself. If you buy the already shredded soap, then skip the step where you would be grating the soap.

  2. Step 2

Now, you need to take 2 bars of Ivory soap and grate it on your grater. Be careful not to cut your fingers while doing this. Grate the soap into a bowl.

  3. Step 3

Next, you will need to pour your soap into the pot and add 1/3 cup of water. Turn the heat on low. Make sure you do not turn the heat any higher as the soap may burn. Stir constantly until all the soap melts. If you think you need more water, just add 1/4 cup at a time. The only reason you may need more water would be because the soap is not melted and it does not have enough water in it to be able to stir it.

  4. Step 4

When the soap is finished, it should be pretty smooth and stringy and in a large ball in the pan. It is ok if there are some little lumps in it. The soap should be thick, pretty hard to stir, and not too watery. If the soap is not in a big ball, then it is not ready. The big ball of soap will be stringy also.

  5. Step 5

Last, you will add your 2 TBSP of olive oil and stir it up well into the soap. Then take your soap and dump it on a plate and flatten it out with your hands (be careful as it will be pretty hot). You should flatten the soap to about 1 inch in thickness. When the soap hardens (30 minutes or so), it is ready to be cut into pieces. Cut the soap into whatever size pieces you wish to have. Store the soap in an airtight container until you are ready to use it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not make lots of soap at a time. If you do, the oil may become rancid in the soap.
