Step 1
Go to a store that sells prepaid cell phones. Wal-Mart, Kmart, Sams Club and Costco are among the more popular stores with prepaid cell phones.
-
Step 2
Compare the cell phone plans. Compare the price per minute and how many days the minutes last. For most prepaid cell phones, the minutes expire after a specified amount of time. Some plans allow you to keep your expired minuets if you purchase additional minutes. Also, are there activation charges? Can you send text messages? Do you have to have a credit card to use the phone?
-
Step 3
Decide on a the best prepaid cell phone plan for you. One of the best prepaid cell phone plans is Net10. The price per minute is only 10 cents and the minutes last for 60 days, and text messages are just 5 cents each. There are also no activation or cancellation charges and you don't need a credit card to use the phone. It also comes with 300 free minuets and the phones themselves are very inexpensive, between $20 and $60 depending on the type of phone you want. Net10 also allows you to make international calls for only 15 cents.

on 8/30/2009 There are a lot options out there, net10 was recently awarded best overall value, straight talk runs off the verzion network so you know they have pretty good service. Virgin mobile im not to happy with right now, i dont think they treat loyal customers to well, they offer a plans and great deals to only certain people, like plan for low income people, its a great deal 120 minutes for 10 bucks but not everyone will get it. Okay, my rant is over, haha. But there are a lot of options, just got to find one that works for how much you talk.
