Step 1
Buy a frozen turkey breast at the grocery store. Make sure that it will fit in your crock pot. These types of turkey breasts are usually about 3 - 5 pounds and are MUCH cheaper to buy than a the more traditional "whole bird".
-
Step 2
Thaw the meat in a clean sink filled with cold water or in the fridge. Thaw times will depend on the size of the turkey breast.
You can also put it in the microwave at 50% power, but this method isn't my first choice because, for me at least, I always manage to let leave it in too long and some of the meat will cook instead of just thaw out. -
Step 3
Put the thawed meat in the crockpot. Slice it into pieces if it won't fit as is or to cook it faster.
Add 2 cans of chicken stock OR 2 cups of water...yes, you can use one of each. The great thing about recipes is that you can add or subtract ingredients, sometimes. It's fun to experiment.
You can add in a sliced granny smith apple, skin and all for a bit more flavor.
Turn power to high and cook for about 3 hours.
At the 3 hour mark, add in some dried cranberries, a coarsley chopped onion and a sliced granny smith apple, skin and all.
Turn power to low and cook for about two more hours or until the meat falls apart with a fork.
